With Lernerville raining out on Friday, Carl and the team made their way to Mercer Raceway Park for the Auto Racers for Kids Charity race on Saturday. The Terry Bowser Excavating machine began the night on the outside of the front row in the night's first heat race. He maintained that position, and was redrawn an 8 pill for the ARFK A-Main. In the $5,000 to win 30 lap feature, Carl steadily picked off cars as he made way toward the front. On lap 26, he advanced into the 3rd position. With two late race restarts, Carl hoped to take the high line to the lead, but even though he turned the second fastest lap of the race on the 28th circuit, he was unable to advance anymore positions. The finish gave Carl his first top 3 finish since Lernerville's season opener.
After a solid 3rd place run, Carl looked to carry momentum into Sunday's visit to Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, PA. Pulling a 103 pill, Carl hit the track near the end of qualifying, averaging 114 mph, which placed him 12th on the charts. He would start on the outside pole of the second sprint heat race, and won by more than 3 seconds in the 8-lap event. His heat race win earned him an 8th place start in the feature for the second time in two races. Carl lost brakes around lap 5, dropping him as far back as 10th place. A late race caution allowed the brakes to cool enough for Carl to pass 3 cars on the final circuit to finish 4th, with him earning his second top 5 of the weekend.

The Bowser Motorsports #10 was able to get back on the racetrack this past weekend after rain has continued to slim down the early portion of the season. Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, Carl started the night off the right way, finishing 4th in his heat race after a 9th place start. He would start 9th again in the feature, but made his way up to 6th early in the race. The left rear tire shrunk nearly two inches during the race, handing Carl a very loose racecar. While gaining undesired stagger, two cars managed to pass Carl, giving him an 8th place finish.
Saturday, we headed to Mercer Raceway Park for the All Star Circuit of Champions first race at Mercer in several years. With 46 cars on hand, Carl went out a little over half way through qualifying, managing to qualify 17th, turning in a good enough time to make the inversion. He started on the outside of the front row in the first heat race, and after nearly driving by the polesitter on the outside of turn 2 on lap 1, Carl got in line, finishing second in the heat. His performance in the heat race garnered him a 16th place starting position in the A-Main. The night's 30 lap feature went wire to wire, and Carl was forced to drive an ill-handling car for the second night in a row, with a bad shock choice lead to a 21st plae finish.
This weekend, the Bowser Motorsports team will be racing at either Lernerville or Charlotte for the World of Outlaws race on Friday. Saturday we will be at MRP for the ARFK Charity Race, and we may head to Tri-City Speedway on Sunday for their Memorial Day sprint car special. The Auto Racers for Kids Charity race is at Mercer Raceway Park this Saturday, May 28th. While you're here, please take the opportunity to make a donation to this great cause.

After two top 3 finishes to begin the season, the last couple races have been a slight struggle for the CBR team. Last Friday night at Lernerville Speedway, Carl started the night 6th in his heat race, and finished 2nd to eventual feature winner Danny Smith. The black #10 began the feature in the 9th spot, and Carl drove into 5th by the tenth circuit. He continued to run 5th in the A-main, but spun and nearly flipped the car after racing for the position lead to contact on lap 20. Carl had pulled the car out of gear while in the air, and after trying to push back off, it was discovered that the lock-in mechanism on the rear had been compromised, leaving Carl a 14th place finish.
The next night at Mercer went only slightly better, where a rough track and poor heat race run had Carl starting on the pole of the 410 B-Main with 37 sprint cars on hand. Carl pushed off 6th in his heat race, which was stacked with fast cars. He was able to advance to 5th by the halfway point, but on a mid-race restart, a large chunk of mud or a rock knocked open the shield on Carl's new Bell Helmet, allowing two cars to easily pass the #10 at the drop of the green. He was unable to make up for his equipment issue in the remaining laps, with his 7th place finish allowing Carl to win the B-Main from his front row starting spot. Carl started 19th in the feature, and managed to make his way to 12th by the drop of the checkered flag.
Carl will look to turn his luck around this weekend, when the Bowser Motorsports team races at Lernerville and competes against the All Stars at Mercer Raceway Park. While you're here, please consider donating to the Auto Racers for Kids Charity, as Carl attempts to raise money that will benefit the children's program at Community Shelter Services in Erie. The ARFK Charity race will be run at MRP on May 28th.
May 2nd, 2011
This weekend Carl only ran at Mercer Raceway Park, but the events of Saturday evening made for what seemed like a tough weekend of racing. The night started out as well as could be hoped for by the Sarver driver, with him pulling a 14 pill for the night's heat race action. The #10 looked hooked-up in hot laps, but as Carl came under the checkered flag, the night took a dramatic turn. Several of the only two race-old rod ends on the front radius rods failed suddenly, causing Carl to lose steering before entering turn 1. The car veered left suddenly, and made hard contact with one of the large infield tires, flipping Carl hard into turn one. Both wings were destroyed, and the front axle was trashed and sat loosely in the car.
The crew immediately got to work making the necessary repairs to get the car on the track in time for the heat race. We'd like to take this chance to thank Todd Hutchison & Butch Kreiss of Brian Ellenberger Racing, Dan & Danny Holtgraver, and Richard McClung for all their invaluable help in putting the race car back together with time to spare. Along with their help, Carl and the crew got the car race ready, allowing the 10 car to finish 2nd after starting 3rd in his heat race.
Carl pushed off 5th in the feature, spending most of the A-Main bouncing between 3rd, 4th and 5th place. He settled into 3rd place on lap 18, and worked his way to 2nd on lap 22, after passing Bob Felmlee. Carl set his sights on leader and eventual race winner Jason Dolick, but it was too little, too late. On the white flag lap, Brian Ellenberger put a hard slider on Carl in turns 3 and 4, forcing Carl to spin in order to avoid contact and the outside wall. The car stopped completely about 30 feet from the finish line after the spin, leaving Carl with an unfortunate ending to a forgettable night of racing.
While you're here, please take the time to read about Carl's participation in a fund raising challenge for Auto Racers for Kids! Carl and the Auto Racers for Kids Charities appreciate any donations made to this great cause!

After a long winter and several weeks of rain, the 2011 race season has finally gotten underway! Although Carl has only hit the track twice so far, two top 3 finishes have resulted. Bowser Motorsports first night out this season was at Mercer Raceway Park, where Carl shook off the winter rust, and managed a 3rd place run. Opening night at Lernerville saw Carl finish 3rd in both the heat race and feature event. The #10 J&J started on the outside pole in the A-Main, and led the first 8 laps of the race, while turning the two fastest laps in the feature, before giving way to eventual winner Cole Duncan and Dale Blaney later in the race.
If the rains hold off this weekend, Carl and crew will probably be racing only at MRP on Saturday, as Lernerville is not running sprint cars this Friday. Check the Bowser Motorsports Twitter later this week to see whether or not the black #10 will be racing anywhere on Friday. While you're here, sign up for the Carl Bowser Racing E-Newsletter, and check out the new 2011 action photos that have been added to the gallery, thanks to StivasonPhotos.com.

The Bowser Motorsports team has been hard at work this winter preparing for the 2011 race season. We have been eagerly assembling the new Terry Bowser Excavating machine, along with readying the necessary spares for our 2011 campaign. Freshly painted panels have just come back from Reesman Body Shop, as the car awaits a new decal scheme from MSMDesigns. Carl and the crew dropped in a freshened Kistler Engines power plant last week, pushing the race car closer to completion with opening night quickly approaching.
Current plans have the Carl Bowser #10 competing at Lernerville Speedway and Mercer Raceway Park on a weekly basis in '11, along with hitting special shows on the Western Pennsylvania circuit. We also look forward to competing with the World of Outlaws and the All Stars whenever they take over local venues, and Carl hopes to run a handful of races outside Western PA as well.
Check back in the coming weeks for more news on the Bowser Motorsports team, or follow us on Twitter at twitter.com/thebullet10 for the latest updates.

Since the last update, Carl and the team have been doing a lot of racing as the summer has wound down. Carl's had 5 top 5's and 2 DNF's in the last nine races. Last weekend, we debuted a new look on our backup 2009 Maxim, which we had to put together after our 2010 car was junked at Lernerville on the 16th of July during the feature event. Both at Lernerville and Mercer, Carl started 9th last weekend and drove to 5th place finishes.
Over these last nine races, the 10 team has raced at three venues which we don't normally get to see during the season. We ran 3rd at PPMS from a 6th place starting spot, and finished 3rd at Eriez for the Auto Racer's for Kids Charity race after starting 10th. We also visited Raceway 7, where we lost brakes in our heat race, forcing Carl to start 18th in the feature. Even after a tough night, Carl still managed a top 10 finish in the nights feature.
July 9th, 2010
The last several weeks of the season have been a bit of a struggle for the #10 team. We switched shock manufacturers in the middle of June, and haven't had much trouble adapting to the change, but we've been plagued by several other issues that effected feature finishes.
Our first night on the VRP's, Carl ran 4th in his heat race at Lernerville and went from 9th to 5th in the feature. For the track surface and with the team trying to get a handle on the new shocks, it was a decent performance. The next night at MRP, we had a 2nd place run in our heat, and after pulling a number 8 pill for the feature, we blew a valve cover gasket while running 5th, causing a small oil fire, ending the night midway through the feature. Sunday, we made the trip to Knox, PA for the Auto Racers for Kids Bonnell Collision Sprint Car Shootout, our first visit to Sportsman's Speedway since 2007. Carl ran 4th in his heat, and started 10th in the nights 25 lap feature. Carl had made his way up to 7th on the super dry little oval, before spinning with a little assitance, and with the car overheating, he made the decision to pull off for the night.
The next weekend, with Lernerville hosting the Firecracker 100, Bowser Motorsports ran just Saturday at Mercer. Carl ran 4th in his heat race, and redrew a 1 for the feature. Carl got a great start at the drop of the green, and had established a decent lead before going out over turn 2, handing the lead to Danny Holtgraver. The next lap, Carl spun coming off of turn 4, and after restarting in the back, managed to come back up through the field for a 6th place finish.
July 2nd at Lernerville, Carl drew a bad pill, seeding him 8th in his heat. This didn't keep the Bullet from making the feature redraw, as he went from 8th to 3rd in turns 1 and 2 on the first lap of the heat. Carl started 6th in the night's feature, but had made it up to 2nd by the end of the 2nd lap. After a lap 6 red flag, Carl lost his brakes, and with the only passing on the super slick track taking place in the infield, Carl was lucky to hold on to a 7th place finish. Last Saturday, Carl picked up his second feature win of the season, and first of the year at Mercer Raceway Park. Carl ran 3rd in his heat, and started on the front row beside Ed Lynch Jr in the first of twin 15 lap features. Carl lead throughout the feature, with Lynch passing Carl midrace on the front stretch, only to see Carl take back the top spot through turns 1 & 2, and Carl held on through lap traffic to take the win. The second feature, Carl started 10th and after making it up as far as 7th place, the worn out tires caught up to us and Carl finished 9th.
June 14th, 2010
Friday June 11th, Carl knew that making the heat race invert would earn him the 12th place position at Lernerville, after winning the last regular Friday night feature. He went on to win his first Lernerville heat race of the season on a speedy surface.
Bowser had a good start, and passed several cars the first lap. Before lap 20, he broke into the top 5, and managed a fourth place finish on a fairly narrow, rough race track.
The next day, Bowser Motorsports headed North to Mercer Raceway Park for just the 3rd dry Saturday in the last 8 weeks. Carl ran 4th in his heat race, and started on the front row for the feature, alongside Bob Felmlee. Carl ran second for the majority of the race before an issue with a lap car allowed Ed Lynch by, handing the black #10 a 3rd place feature finish.
This weekend you can catch Carl and the Terry Bowser Excavating 10 in action at Lernerville, Mercer, and Sportsman's Speedway. Sunday will mark our first visit to Knox since 2007, to compete in the Auto Racers for Kids Bonnell Collision Sprint Car Shootout. Please come out to support this special event!
June 7th, 2010
This past Friday at Lernerville, the All Star Circuit of Champions invaded Sarver for the first time in 2010. Carl went out 3rd in qualifying and made the inversion by qualifying 17th. That put Carl on the pole of the night's second heat race, where he finished second behind outside polesitter Dave Ely. After the heat race, Carl discovered that one of our spark plugs had been bent, resulting in a poorly performing engine, which had been plaguing the #10 since hot laps.
Despite the ailing engine, Carl's 2nd place heat race finish earned him a starting position in the night's A-Main. The Terry Bowser Excavating machine started the feature in 17th, and a speedy, narrow surface saw Carl manage an 11th place finish at the fall of the checkers.
A scary crash at the beginning of the night's feature sent Charlie Holben to the hostpital via Life Flight after suffering several severe burns. Charlie is continuing to heal at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. Bowser Motorsports offers its most sincere thoughts and prayers to Charlie and his entire family during this tough time, and asks that you keep the Holbens in your prayers as well! We all hope that you make a speedy recovery Chuck!
May 31st, 2010
After a frustrating DNF at Lernerville last Friday night, and a pair of runner-up finishes behind two of Western PA's winningest sprint car drivers earlier this season, Carl finally broke through, grabbing the checkered flag at Lernerville Speedway. Carl put the blue, black, and white Terry Bowser Excavating #10 Maxim into Victory Lane Friday, May 28th, driving a spectacular race on a perfectly preped, racy track surface.
Following his fifth place heat race finish, Carl was pulled a 3 pill for the night’s feature event, starting behind Bob Felmlee and Brent Matus, and alongside Rod George. Carl dropped to 4th on the initial start, but made his way back to 3rd on lap 3, and grabbed the runner-up spot from Felmlee on lap 6. He ran down Rod on lap 9, and the two exchanged slide jobs through all four corners for the next five laps, before Carl took over the top spot for the remainder of the race, giving him his first win of the young 2010 campaign! The win was Carl’s 3rd career Lernerville victory, bumping his career total to six.
With Mercer Raceway Park holding truck and tractor pulls this weekend, you can catch the Bowser Motorsports 10 on the track again next Friday night at Lernerville Speedway as the All Star Circuit of Champions come to town, along with a regular Saturday night show at MRP.
Check back soon for Victory Lane Photos from Friday.
May 25th, 2010
With 24 cars on hand at Lernerville last Friday, Carl started 5th in the second sprint heat. After making the invert with a 3rd place heat finish, Carl started 3rd in the night's feature. With an extremely heavy track, Carl got in tow behind front row starters Dale Blaney and Danny Holtgraver. Two early race cautions kept the field tight, but the leaders began to catch lap traffic before a lap 9 caution. During this caution, the 3rd place running #10 machine began to overheat, forcing Carl to head to the trailer for the night, handing the team its first sub top 8 finish of the season.
Saturday night saw another Mercer Raceway Park washout. This coming weekend Carl will be racing only at Lernerville Speedway, with Mercer having a tractor pull. While you're here, check out some new 2010 photos from StivasonPhotos.com.
May 17th, 2010
For just the second time of the 2010 season, the rains missed both Lernerville and Mercer, giving Carl a chance to run two races in the same weekend. Friday night at Lernerville, Carl drew a 41 pill, forcing him to start 9th in the evening's first heat race. The Terry Bowser Excavating 10 made its way into the feature redraw, finishing fifth in the heat. The feature lineup saw Bowser starting on the pole for the first time this season, and Carl took full advantage from the races outset. Carl ran a great race, and led the first 22 and a half laps, withstanding early race challenges from 2009 Lernerville champ Rod George. However, coming through 3 and 4 on lap 22, Carl was the recipient of a George slider, who went on to lead through the finish of the race, with Carl crossing the line within a car length of Rod. Although a disappointing finish, the second place was Carl's best result at Lernerville so far this season.
Carl took Friday night's momentum into Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park. Carl won his heat race from the front row, and grabbed the feature pole position for the second night in a row. Carl had the lead coming down the backstretch on the initial start of the feature, although it was cancelled by a Pete Miller red flag in turn 2. On the complete restart, Carl made a good run into 1 & 2, but was beat to the backstretch by outside pole sitter Danny Holtgraver. The feature would go green straight through, with Bowser running second until being passed by Lynch on lap 15, and George on the next circuit. An increasingly loose racecar left Carl a 4th place finish, and his second top 4 of the weekend.
While you're here, please check out the all-new CarlBowser.com. The photos page has been revamped to include some early season shots from Bowser Motorsports' 2010 campaign, along with photos from Carl's winter trip to Tasmania in the spring of 2009. Special thanks to StivasonPhotos.com and SprintCarNews.com for all the awesome pictures. Another new feature on Carl's website is the "Live @ the Track" section, featured on the site's home page. "Live @ the Track" integrates the Bowser Motorsports Twitter feed onto CarlBowser.com, allowing the team to stream live updates and photos from the races.
May 10th, 2010
Friday, May 7th at Lernerville saw a season high 26 sprint cars in the pits. Carl had a 6th place start in the first heat, and made his way to a 4th place finish on a fast racing surface.
Carl was handed a 7th place start for the feature, and after dropping as low as 12th on the initial start, managed to make his way back through the field for a 6th place finish.
May 4th, 2010
Following back to back rainouts at MRP, we headed to Mercer on May 1st, aiming for that $1,500 dollar winner's check! Carl pulled a #29 pill and started 4th in his heat. He finished 3rd behind Lutz and Felmlee.
Carl started the feature in the number 10 position. After battling with Charlie Holben for 5th throughout the majority of the race, Carl went for the highside pass of the purple 15 through turns 1 & 2 on a lap 16 restart. However, Holben got very high off turn two, putting both he and Carl over the backstretch, and opening the door for Lynch to pick up the 5th place spot. Carl drove hard into turn 3, grabbing 6th place, where he ended up when the feature was complete.
April 27th, 2010
The rains finally subsided, and the Bowser Motorsports number 10 hit the track for the first time in two weeks.
Carl headed to Lernerville Speedway for the first DIRTcar Challenge Sprint Series race of the season. In his heat, Carl started second and took the lead on the backstretch on the first lap, and continued to lead until a Rankin car spun in turn 4 as the leaders approached the checkered flag. The heat then ended on a green-checkered finish, which saw second place runner Ed Lynch Jr. put a wicked slider on Carl in turn 2, forcing the #10 to check up hard, allowing Lynch to win the heat over Carl by .59 seconds.
The second place finish at first looked to be advantageous, as the pill draw put Bowser on the front row for the feature. However, there went on to be a redraw for starting positions, handing the team an 8th place starting spot. On the initial start, Carl dropped outside the top 10, but he was able to make his way back up to fourth as the checkered fell, finishing strong behind Dale Blaney.
April 13th, 2010
Rain forced Lernerville Speedway to cancel Friday's program, but Saturday, April 10th, Bowser Motorsports entered the second race of the season at Bill Altman's Mercer Raceway Park.
After last weekend's pair of eighth place finishes, Carl and the rest of the team sought improvement in the 3rd night of the young season. Carl drew a 55 pill at MRP, starting him 8th in the evening's second heat race, but a poor draw did not slow him down. The black, blue and white 10 car went from 8th to 3rd in the first three laps of the heat race, locking up 3rd and a top 12 starting spot in the night's feature event.
The feature redraw put Carl on the outside of the front row. He wasted no time, grabbing the lead on his way off of turn 2 on the first lap. Carl continued to lead the first 9 circuits of the 20 lap event. The black 2L of Ed Lynch Jr. started in the 4th spot, and finally reeled Carl in nearly half way through the race. After a side by side race for 3 laps, Lynch finally passed Carl, and went on to extend his lead to nearly a straightaway when the 10 jumped the turn 2 cushion. Carl comfortably maintained his 2nd spot in the running order throughout the rest of the feature, and finished the race about six car lengths behind Lynch Jr.
April 8th, 2010
Another season has kicked off for the Bowser Motorsports team. The 2010 campaign began for Carl at Lernerville Speedway last Friday night. After being the 5th fastest car in hot laps, Carl started 3rd in his heat race. After hitting a big rut in turn 4, the car bicycled and forced Carl to bring out a caution flag. He managed to get back up to sixth at the end of the heat, giving him a 6th place start in the feature. While running 6th in the first A-main of the season, a deflating left rear caused the 10 to spin in between turns 3 and 4 with 2 laps remaining in the race. This relegated Carl to a 8th place finish in Lernerville's opener.
Saturday, Carl and the crew headed up to Mercer Raceway Park for the track's first sprint race of 2010. Carl started on the pole of the evening's 3rd heat race and Carl maintained the lead from start to checkered. The black and white #10 started the feature in the fourth spot, and ended up finishing 8th.
